Cristo Rey San Diego High School (Cristo Rey San Diego) is proud to announce the graduation of its founding seniors on Friday, May 31st, marking a significant milestone in the school’s history. These pioneering students have played a pivotal role in shaping the identity and spirit of Cristo Rey San Diego, serving as trailblazers and leaders from its inception in 2020.

“Their graduation signifies not only the culmination of their academic journeys but also the beginning of a new chapter for our school.”

Four years ago, this group of students bravely began their high school journey at a school that had not yet opened its doors. After four years of diligent work from the students, teachers, and Cristo Rey community, 95% of Cristo Rey San Diego’s graduating class has been rewarded with offers of admission to an incredible list of 47 four-year universities. The list ranges from top local schools like the University of San Diego and UCSD to nationally-ranked UCLA, Pomona College, and Emory University. This is a testament to their academic prowess, dedication, and hard work throughout their high school journey.

“They have set a high standard of excellence and leadership, and we do not doubt that they will continue to excel in all their future endeavors.”

The character and grit of these students were made even more evident by the unique challenges they faced as students at a school starting amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This group of students worked hard to adapt to online learning, build a community-centered culture, and learn professional work skills for the Corporate Work Study Program, all without the guidance of older peers and amid all the uncertainties of a global crisis. The accomplishments of this group are remarkable and profound.

“We are immensely proud of our founding seniors for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to our school community,” said Christian Kampfl, President of Cristo Rey San Diego. “Their graduation signifies not only the culmination of their academic journeys but also the beginning of a new chapter for our school. They have set a high standard of excellence and leadership, and we do not doubt that they will continue to excel in all their future endeavors.”

The graduation ceremony, scheduled for May 31st, will be a joyous celebration of the achievements and successes of the founding seniors. Families, friends, faculty, and staff will come together to honor and commemorate this historic milestone, recognizing the passion and perseverance that has led to this unforgettable moment.
