Meet Caden the Coyote, our lovable mascot leader! Students submitted mascot ideas and voted to select the Coyotes. Why coyotes? Here’s what Autumn, who submitted the idea, has to say: “Coyote comes from the Mexican Spanish word, Coyote, which comes from the Nahuatl (Aztecan), Coyotl. Coyotes are native to North America and San Diego. Coyotes stay in family packs (The Cristo Rey Pack). In indigenous folklore, Coyotes are super smart and adaptable, often seen as tricksters. Coyotes howl, and sometimes are seen as howling at the moon, which in Christianity is often associated with Mary, the Mother of God.” |
